Sector Expertise

We work in a cross-sector way, bringing our experience to a wide variety of industries, but here are some of the areas we've worked on in the past

Arts and Culture

We've worked with theatres, visual arts organisations, and the literature sector. Our work has included:

  • Creative access provisions in theatre, including audio-description, British Sign Language, and captions

  • Designing accessible events and programmes for disabled attendees

  • Training and policy development on effectively with disabled freelancers

  • Budgeting for access on a small and large scale, and supporting organisations in making the case for capital grants to improve accessibility

Access and Built Environment

We've carried out research to understand the needs of disabled people from buildings, and consulted extensively on access to the built environment. Our expertise includes:

  • Researching and gathering the experiences of disabled people to understand needs and service provision

  • Equality Impact Assessment development and review from a disability perspective

  • Consultancy on the built environment, including development work and levelling up grants

  • Access consultancy on building design, layout and interiors - from wheelchair accessibility to sound, lights, and textures.

With experience in the higher education sector, we have a background with Students' Unions, academic staff and professional services, designing training and offering services including:

  • Co-production research, development and implementation

Community and Non-Profit

With constrained funding environments, lack of flexibility and high demand for services, the non-profit and community sector is currently being squeezed. We have experience working on:

  • Community outreach and building disabled audiences and communities

  • Data collection and access - ensuring you hold clean, accurate data in order to predict and meet the needs of your communities

  • Improving access in high-impact and low budget ways

  • Making the funding case to meet the costs of accessing your service

  • Integrating access into your service and staffing from the bottom up

Venues and Events

We have extended experience consulting on access and events planning. Whether you're thinking about a conference, a panel, or a play, there are considerations from the selection of venue and access features to the process of attendees registering, and ensuring access is kept central to live event delivery.

  • Access considerations and structural design and layout

  • Physical adaptions and physical access - what makes a building accessible and how to identify accessible buildings

  • Collecting access needs at the right time, in the right way

  • Meeting the needs of disabled people with a variety of access requirements
