Consultancy

We provide expert guidance on all areas of disability and accessibility, working with you and your organisation to achieve practical change. This includes

  • Developing accessible event planning toolkits, and auditing venues to ensure that appropriate access is provided for disabled attendees

  • Ensuring access is creatively and practically integrated into arts, culture, and other publicly facing events, including audio-description, captions, and British Sign Language

  • Building access into strategic planning and ensuring access plans for the future are resilient, practical, and productive

  • Reviewing HR policies and processes through an anti-ableist lens to demonstrate best practice in access

  • Facilities and built environment consultancy, including building and development design and redesign and access to nature.

Education and Training

Many people have never had a conversation with a wheelchair user - and are uncomfortable talking about access. Our disabled-led training explores the legal and societal contexts of disability, with the social model of disability at its heart.

We offer online, blended, and in-person (location-dependent) training to individuals and organisations. All our work is tailored to your circumstances, organisations, and industries, and our packages range from introductory sessions for small and large groups through to 'away days' designed to centre access in strategic planning.

We also develop and deliver completely bespoke training responding to your organisation and needs - so if you're interested, get in touch to discuss how we can support you to overcome barriers and make change.

Development

We offer development and mentoring for individual staff or small groups. For staff members who are leading on or delivering organisational change programmes, or who have responsibilities covering Equality, Diversity and Inclusion but have less experience with disabled people, these sessions offer an ongoing way for people and teams to develop their practice and confidence in a supportive environment. Our development and mentoring offers you a sounding board, a space to reflect, and a critical friend.

Our mentoring and development also focuses on managers - especially new managers. Whether you're a disabled person who is new to being a manager, or your newly managing disabled people, we're able to offer support, growth, and development, helping you identify and tackle the challenges that can come up for people new to management.

Testimonials

Jamie’s bespoke disability awareness training sessions are informative, interactive, and dynamic. They worked with us carefully to ensure that the training met the needs of the participants and spoke to their specific concerns. They have transformed our understandings of disability, enabled us to support colleagues and students more effectively, and empowered us to forge creative solutions to a range of issues. We are so fortunate to have benefited from Jamie’s expertise, and heartily recommend them as a trainer to any organisation.

Professor Gillian Roberts and Dr Tara Webster-Deakin – Faculty of Arts, Nottingham University

Jamie ran two excellent workshops on disability justice for our staff team at NEON. The workshops helped us to develop a deeper understanding of contemporary issues facing disabled people, particularly within our social movement spaces, and explored how we can apply that knowledge in practical ways we can develop and deliver our programmes.
