Training & Consultancy

How do disabled people fit into your organisational vision?

Access is often an afterthought – or provided in order to meet a legal requirement. We believe you can do better. Disability ACED offers everything from off-the-shelf training to bespoke consultancy and development. We collaborate with you to develop your organisational culture around disability and access.

Disabled people aren’t just your customers and service users, they’re also your colleagues, staff, and freelancers. Our work takes a 360 degree look at your organisation and ensures disabled people are considered at every point they intersect with your work.

We can provide all-staff training, or work with individual staff and groups as required. We support you in developing a self-sustaining access culture within your organisation with the tools and knowledge internally to excel.

Whether you’re coming to us because you have the funding available and want to prioritise accessibility, or because an internal issue has highlighted gaps in your provision, our consultants can help you identify the parts of your service that are working well – and the parts that need some development.

We have extensive experience building access into venues and events, from creative performances to conferences, meetings, and development programmes. Whether you want to develop checklists and processes to support your organisation in running accessible events, or you need support in setting up and delivering a specific event, get in touch.

With a background in disability arts, we work extensively with theatres, exhibition venues and other cultural spaces. We will ensure that access is a creative force at the core of your curatorial and producing practice.

We can also support you in ensuring your office space is as accessible as possible for the staff that use it, from layout and furnishings to culture and communication.

Policy & Operations

Are you confident that you’re giving disabled staff the tools they need to succeed in the workplace? Or do you think changes need making.

We support organisations to improve their policy and operations, focusing on disability but across the full EDI spectrum. By analysing their HR policies and practices, and interviewing current and former staff, we can support organisations in making concrete improvements.

Working with an experienced people manager, we will work collaboratively to identify the areas where your practice is at its best – and the areas that still need some development. Having identified these, we will make a clear plan for change, and our work will support you in implementing it.

Are you ready to see your disabled staff succeed? And are you committed to making the changes that requires?

Built Environment

We have worked on consultancy projects at a variety of scales. We focus on how access can be improved across the built environment, from redesigning interiors and buildings to redeveloping town centres.

As well as inclusive design, our expertise includes co-production and focus group development. We have completed extensive community-based research and reporting, and can draft or support with Equality Impact Assessments where required.

Support is available throughout the process, from ideation and access through the design and planning stage. We collaborate with project managers, architects, and wider stakeholders to ensure access is aligned with your vision for the project.
